Sui Blockchain in 2025: What’s New and How to Get Started

Over the past few months, Sui has been growing at a very fast rate . Right now,  it has over 155 million user accounts and has processed more than 10 billion transactions. Having been one of the fastest blockchain in the world, in testing,  it could do up to 297,000 transactions every second. Even in real life, it has reached 860 transactions per second, which is faster than many other blockchains like Ethereum.

But Sui isn’t just about speed, Over the years, it has gained attention because of its growing ecosystem. With NFT platforms, gaming projects, and DeFi apps launching every month. For example, Just recently, a simple yet popular blockchain game “Samurai Shodown RPS” was launched on Sui, along with  the NFT platform BlueMove, which is seeing strong user engagement.

Meanwhile, the blockchains native token SUI has been gaining attention from traditional finance lately. In march, Canary Capital filed for the first-ever SUI spot ETF in the United States. This would allow regular investors to gain exposure to Sui through the stock market, without owning any crypto directly.

Just months later, 21Shares, a large asset manager working with Nasdaq, submitted a similar ETF proposal. These filings suggest that Sui isn’t just a tech project, it’s being treated as a serious financial asset.

Notably, In June, about 44 million SUI tokens were released into the market. This caused the price to drop a little, but the Sui network stayed strong. In fact, the SUI token has gone up over 216% in YTD. At the time of writing, it’s worth around $2.68.

That said, Sui is now being used by people all over the world,  in the U.S., Asia, Europe, and Africa. Developers, gamers, crypto fans, and big investors are all paying attention. So now, let’s talk about how you can try it too.

How to Get Started With SUI

If you want to build something on Sui or just try it out, the steps are simple.

Step 1: Install the tools.

You need something called the Sui CLI, a tool that helps you talk to the Sui network. On a Mac, you can type brew install sui in your terminal. Or use suiup to manage versions. You also need to install Rust, the language used to write code for Sui.

Step 2: Connect to the test network.

Don’t worry about using real money. Sui has a testnet where you can try everything for free. You can ask for free test tokens from faucet.sui.io. This lets you test apps and code without risk.

Step 3: Follow a beginner tutorial.

Sui has a guide called “Your First Sui App”. It shows you how to build a simple smart contract using the Move language. You will write code, test it, and send it to the blockchain.

Step 4: Build a simple app.

Once your contract works, you can make a basic app (or website) that connects to it. Sui has tools for that too, like JavaScript SDKs, which let you build in React or Vue. You can also connect your app to wallets like Suiet or Ethos.

Step 5: Join the Sui community.

You don’t have to build alone. Sui has a helpful Discord group, online tutorials, and even hackathons where you can meet other developers. They also give grants to support new ideas. This makes it easier to grow your project.
