Metaplanet Stock Jumps 10% as It Invests $117M in Bitcoin

Metaplanet is making headlines again as it purchases another 1,088 Bitcoin worth approximately $117.3 million. With this, the Tokyo-based firm now has a total Bitcoin holding of 8,888 BTC. This is 88.8% of its 10,000 BTC target for 2025.
According to CEO Simon Gerovich, the firm bought the latest batch at $107,771 per Bitcoin and has achieved a BTC Yield of 225.4% year-to-date. The company’s BTC Yield is 66.3% from April-June 2.

The company’s total investment so far amounts to $829.7 million, with the current market value of its holdings estimated at over $933 million. According to the announcement, the firm made this purchase through a bond sale. It issues its 16th and 17th series of zero-interest bonds, raising 16.885 billion yen from EVO Fund.
Last week, the company also raised $50 million and another $21 million through similar no-interest bonds to fuel its ongoing Bitcoin buying plan.

The market reacted quickly after the news. Metaplanet Inc. (3350.T) stock price jumped nearly 10%, closing at 1,171 yen. The stock hit a high of 1,171 yen and a low of 1,036 yen during the trading day. The company’s year-to-date stock growth now stands at over 214%, according to Yahoo Finance.
Metaplanet began its Bitcoin treasury strategy in April 2024 and has since acquired 7,126 BTC in 2025 alone. The firm is now the largest corporate Bitcoin holder in Asia and ranks in the top ten globally.
